Good news!

I visited my dad this morning before work and he was tired,
but doing ok. It's hard to get solid sleep with all of the
commotion, beeping and people checking in on you. He was
looking forward to some breakfast, I think it was supposed
to be French Toast, so that was a good sign. While I was there
they took him down for a CT scan.

Later this morning, I got a call from my mom with the results.
Great news! The air bubble or pocket that was underneath the
fracture has dissipated! I think the skull depressed about 5 mm
which may have been the cause of the air pocket. In any case,
this was the last major concern and we're greatly relieved
that it has cleared itself up.

As of now, my dad is scheduled to be released tomorrow morning.
They actually gave him the choice to stay another night so he
may decide to come home earlier, but we'll see. He is still
very achy, groggy and tired and I don't think one can be too
cautious in his situation. He has described feeling "like
getting hit in the head with a sledge hammer," which is
basically what happened. We'll see how things go.

We took some pics while in the ER that I'll try and post soon.
They're a bit grizzly, but I know my brother Karl will
appreciate them. Karl is famous for wanting to do medical
procedures on himself, drawing blood, etc. He may have even
wanted to staple himself back up after his spleen was removed.
In any case, I know Karl will want to see all 7 staples they
used to close the wound in my dad's forehead. He probably would
have wanted to put the staples in himself if he had been there.
