The Nature Valley Grand Prix

Every June, professional cycling comes to the Twin Cities. The original 3 day event has grown into a 5 day race with 6 stages. Check out the official web site. The final day is always capped with a criterium race in Stillwater, Minn. A criterium or "crit" is a race where riders complete a number of laps on a course that is around a mile in length. The crit in Stillwater is considered one of the toughest in the nation as it goes up Chillcoot hill. This hill has a 26% grade and needless to say, its brutal. We've been making it an annual event to go down and watch and this year was no exception. The steep hill also provides a similar atmosphere to the big mountain stages of the Tour de France. It also makes the race in Stillwater especially fun to watch! I've posted some photos and a short video clip as well. We also got to try out the Kelty Kids Pack, which Anja seemed to enjoy!
